Live Free or Die Picatinny mount
thingiverse
This is my custom picatinny mount, inspired by the purity seal picatinny mount. It features a mathematical equation representing freedom, courtesy of America's founding fathers. The design incorporates an algebraic expression: L(ive) (F)ree ||(boolean for OR) D(ie). I've modified it to be held together with screws and nuts instead of glue. You can punch holes in the paper after treating it to withstand weather conditions, then fit it between the plate and the mount. For airsoft use, print with PLA; for my actual gun, I'll use ABS. Nylon or PETG will also work, but avoid soft filaments and low glass transition temperatures. If screws become loose, add glue. Required parts: 4x M3 button screws (8 or 10 mm length) 4x M3 nuts 1x M4 screw (35mm length) with nut or picatinny mount screw and nut After experimenting with printing: a smooth finish on lettering requires 3-4 perimeters, unless you have an advanced slicer engine like MatterSlicer. When attaching the mount to metal furniture, use insulation between the barrel/chamber and the plate to avoid reaching glass transition point and melting (standard filaments only). Don't engrave too deeply or it will appear poor quality.
