Little XY
thingiverse
I work at a research institute and designed this to help friends use e-trash scrap micro stepper motors in experiments on the XY plane. This can be useful for anyone making small, cheap 3D printers, laser engravers, or small LSA 3D printers that require 40mm of XY travel. The movement kinematics were inspired by Ultimake's cinematic approach with two axes moving to prevent motors from piling up and adding excessive height and leverage for vibration. It uses 10x bushings from old CD/DVD drivers. Those with a metal cap usually have two bushings each, so be careful not to damage them while removing them. The stepper motor is symmetrical in design. The leadscrew's nut will be made out of hot glue or epoxy putty. That's the plan. Next week I'll post an update on whether it works and any modifications made. A prototype was left to print, and next week I'll know if it functions correctly.
With this file you will be able to print Little XY with your 3D printer. Click on the button and save the file on your computer to work, edit or customize your design. You can also find more 3D designs for printers on Little XY.
