Little Whistle
prusaprinters
I designed this Little Whistle several years ago. Somehow I just never got around to posting it on Thingiverse. It is one of the first things I designed specifically for 3D printing. I use it for 3D printing demonstrations. It seems to me to be an excellent object for a 3D printing demo. It prints fast enough (about 8 minutes) that it can finish printing while someone is standing there watching. Then you can hand them something they just saw printed and it works! I have had students get a whistle at an open house before they took my class. They return after graduation and say they still had their whistle! So much more impact than watching five minutes (a couple of layers) of a two hour print. So please enjoy this Little Whistle and whenever you get a chance to show someone how a 3D printer works I hope you will print them a whistle (especially the kids). Perhaps it will help spark an interest for the next generation of Makers! **Disclaimer - Not for small children. Choking Hazard!!!!**** Chuck P.S. Remember there is a fine line between a whistle and a hyperventilator! Edit 2-4-16: I saw that I had uploaded the wrong STL file for the whistle with loop so I fixed that. I also uploaded the original Little Whistle that did not have a lanyard loop. It will print slightly quicker. I also uploaded one with a revised lanyard loop. I had met Cudacountry at a maker event and he came up with the more integrated lanyard loop so props to him. He has a nice web page with lots of Solidworks tutorials and projects so check it out. http://www.cudacountry.net/html/solidworks_toc.html Print Settings Printer Brand: LulzBot Printer: Mini Rafts: No Supports: No Infill: n/a Notes: You can print this without supports so it prints faster. If you use supports the loop may come out a little cleaner. I have had better luck when I print these on their sides. Category: Toys & Games
