Summary Bright Light – Solar Powered Lamp Artist Olafur Eliasson and engineer Frederik Ottesen created Little Sun (http://littlesun.com) to bring affordable, clean light to the 1.1 billion people worldwide living in off-grid areas without electricity. My children use two of these lamps at night to read with. Unfortunately, after a game, one of the lamp cases got damaged. The great design makes it easy to take apart and repair. I used my 3D modeling skills to recreate the design for 3D printing. After a few iterations, the first fully functional version came off my printer. I reused the electronics, lens, and on/off cover. My daughter now has a green Little Sun! Print Settings Printer Brand: Ultimaker Printer: Ultimaker 2 Rafts: Not Required Supports: No Resolution: Fine Infill: 20-30% Notes: You can print all parts without supports or rafts if your printer has good bed adhesion and cooling. A front piece with built-in supports is included in the STL files. Post-Printing You need to have the electronics and parts from a Little Sun original. All parts will unclip and clip onto the 3D printed body. The inner base plate needs to be test fitted to check screws and all parts fit correctly. Once happy, glue the inner plate to the top.
