Little People wagon

Little People wagon

My daughter had a little people tractor and farm set, but there did not seem to be a wagon for the tractor, even though there was a pin on the back to allow for something to be attached to it. I decided to design something to fix this problem. This is mostly held together with CA glue and you will also need the following: axles: I used some metal gardening staples that I cut into roughly 4" long pieces. You want an axle that is roughly .188" or 3/16" diameter and 4-4.13" long deck boards: I had some thin (.125") oak that I cut into pieces that were roughly 4" long and .5" wide (slightly narrower is better and will make it easier to install the boards). These could also easily be printed. I began assembly by gluing the sides to the running gear with the flanges/wings pointing toward the center of the wagon. I used a drill bit that was the same size as the hole to keep things lined up and put CA glue on one side of the joint and activator on the other and then put them together. I spun the drill bit with my finger, while the glue set up to keep from gluing the bit in place. I did this on all 4 corners. I then glued on the deck boards, making sure there was an even reveal on each side (they overhang the frame of the wagon by about .25" on each side). The tongue has a ball a socket connection, and simply needs to be snapped in place. It allows the tongue to articulate up and down. I then glued one wheel to the axle for both the front and the back by putting the axle into the hole in the back of the wheel and gluing it in place. While the glue was setting up, I rotated the wheel with the axle pointing upwards and was able to get the axles pretty perpendicular to the wheels by eye before the glue was completely hard. I then put the axles through the running gear/side assembly of the wagon frame and glued on the last wheel. When doing this, take care to not glue the wheel to the side of the wagon or glue the axle into the frame. This was a little finnicky, but not too bad. I think this looks the best if the wheel are printed in black and the frame is done in another color. Of course, everything could be done in the same color and all at once. As with all of my designs, this was created in inches. If it shows up tiny in your slicing software, multiply the scale by 25.4 to convert mm to inches. Let me know what you think and post those makes! *Disclaimer* There are small pieces involved in this that could pose a choking hazard, so if you are letting a small child play with it, make sure they are supervised. Inspect the toy often to make sure nothing is coming loose or falling off. If you are worried about the safety of this toy, please do not print it or let your child play with it.
