Little Nema14 Belted Flex Extruder for E3DV6

Little Nema14 Belted Flex Extruder for E3DV6

This is a design that's currently under development. The only files accessible at this point are the FreeCAD source code. This extruder is designed for a E3DV6 1.75mm hotend and a NEMA14 motor, which works in conjunction with a GT2 belt and standard aluminum gears from CNC projects. A typical M8 hobbed bolt will be used to secure it on an I3 style printer. Work is ongoing on bowden and NEMA17/23 versions, as well as a module for various types of hotends that can be easily swapped out. Initially, this project was expected to be completed sometime between April and May 2016. However, due to time constraints, it won't meet the initial deadline. I'll need a few more months to revisit this project, but don't worry - it's far from dead! In fact, a working prototype is already up and running. This design will work particularly well with flexible filaments because it minimizes the distance between the hotend/hobbed bolt and the filament. The filament is guided through a 4mm PTFE tube, which helps maintain smooth flow. This extruder is small, lightweight, and simple in design. The NEMA14 motor can be adjusted to accommodate different GT2 belts, and it uses common bearings, screws, and nuts that are easily sourced. This extruder is designed to work on any standard I3 carriage but can be easily adapted for other printers since the source code will be available. Any changes or updates will be posted here as they become available.
