Little Mermaid 360 lithophane

Here's the first thing I want to say is thanks a million to MakeALot for creating such an amazing lithophane generator! I was totally inspired by his incredible 360 lithophane that he made, which you can see right here: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:663031 and I've also included the link to the lithophane generator at http://3dp.rocks/lithophane. My little daughter absolutely loves The Little Mermaid and she keeps asking me to print some awesome mermaid objects for her, but you know what? It's surprisingly tough to find some great 3D models of that! That is, until I got the chance to try out MakeALot's lithophane generator, which blew my mind! Well, first thing was getting some super cute pictures from google and let my daughter pick out three of them - and then stitch them all together in Photoshop Elements so they could create a single picture wide enough for making that 360 degree lithophane. Check it out here in the gallery. Now after setting up those pictures just like we needed to do, I went on to MakeALot's website at http://3dp.rocks/lithophane and selected the settings as follows: Max Size (MM) = 300 Thickness (MM) = 2 Vectors per Pixel = 5 Form = 360 solid shell The one thing that did catch my eye is the way MakeALot talks about Vectors per Pixel over at his blog - it really explained how this whole thing works, you should check it out here: http://3dp.rocks/blog/ I found when setting it up I tried different Vector Per Pixel starting from 2 up to five and guess what? With 2 they were so much smaller but then also not as clear! As far as me settling for five vectors per pixel was that first step to get smooth prints and then, I got stuck on 52mb stl file size about four times bigger than with just setting two! Now you know why when you check it out and make lithophane using photos - that the one best method for us would be setting at two - like little princess I tried using 2 different 3d printer softwares. Before this fix up on repairing a file so there isn't problem, I sliced it successfully both by Simplify3D or by Slic3r software but with those programs I used that program Netfabb Basic for to check and get that fix of the problem if we will have problem so we could keep printing at same .2mm print quality with best smooth results as always!
