Replacement gears for 'LitterMaid Multi-Cat Self-Cleaning Litter Box' - This is the second generation box with a removable plastic rake activated by pushing 2 buttons. If your rake becomes stuck, particularly at the ends of the box and makes a loud snapping noise instead of stopping and reversing as it should, it's likely that your gears are worn out. I printed two additional gears from here but the teeth didn't mesh properly with the small gear. Part of the problem was that my small gear was also worn down. So I made both gears with the correct tooth count and pitch and they mesh correctly. They appear to work well with the original gears too, but no promises since both mine are worn out. Instead of using the original roll pins to secure them in place, I'm using 2.5mm bolts screwed into the plastic and a nut on the opposite side. https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B07F14J7X8 The original main gear was 6mm tall on its teeth, so I made this one 8mm tall to match the spur gear. This should give it more surface area at the pressure point and reduce wear. Another change I made was including the spacer that goes between the large gear and the metal bracket. Here are some pictures of the box it fits into, the gears in the scooper bar, and the entire bar in case you got yours apart and can't remember how it all goes together. The black connector in the cable that powers the motor is not normally included - I snipped the wire so I could take the motor to my workbench and measure and test fit everything. I also added pictures of the old gears, showing how the spur gear is worn into and dipped on its sides. The main gear has missing teeth tips and others are sharpened to points instead of having their angled profile as they should. Note: This is my first design using Fusion 360, and once you get past the basics it's amazingly easy to use.
