Lithuanian partisans unleashed guerrilla warfare in Lithuania from 1944 to 1953, battling the Soviet Union at every turn. Similar anti-Soviet resistance groups, known as Forest Brothers and cursed soldiers, fought bravely against Soviet rule in Estonia, Poland, Latvia, Galicia, and Romania. It's estimated that a total of 30,000 Lithuanian partisans and their supporters paid the ultimate price with their lives.
