I discovered the Bitmap to Mesh plugin for SketchUp and decided to try it out. After practicing, I became proficient in its use. Now, I'm prepared to visit schools and demonstrate 3D printing to children. For this purpose, I use black and white low-resolution pictures that are cropped and saved as BMP files. With just three clicks in SketchUp, I can convert the image into an STL file, which takes only five minutes to print. To make it more cost-effective for schools, I print four at a time. The cost for such workshops is typically $300 per school. My son's teacher wants to be the first one to experience this, and other teachers have also expressed interest. Lithophanes create a magical effect on everyone who sees them.
