Lithophane light stand
thingiverse
My wife and her friends just returned from a trip, and they took a fantastic group photo together. She asked if I could do something with it, so I immediately suggested creating a lithophane. Her next question was whether there was a way to attach a light behind it because most of them will be placing their desks in offices without natural window lighting. To address this issue, I designed a model that makes it easy to mount and backlight a lithophane. Plus, swapping out the light is incredibly simple since it just slips into its own pocket. For this project, I used "Commercial Electric" LED soft white puck lights from Home Depot (https://www.homedepot.com/p/Commercial-Electric-2-99-in-LED-Silver-Battery-Operated-Puck-Light-3-Pack-1001217766/205703255). They worked perfectly and everyone was thrilled. The stand itself might not be the most sophisticated design, but it gets the job done beautifully. I wish I had taken a photo of it before they took it to work, though. I modified the model I'm uploading to include the name of their destination and the year on the front of the base. There's plenty of blank space for anyone who wants to create their own remixes or variations.
