Lithophane Light Box (Update V2!)
thingiverse
UPDATE I've updated the sides so the Lithophanes are removable and the top can be made removable. I wanted to make my mother something personal this year for her birthday, so I decided to make a Lithophane Light Box Lamp. I selected pictures of me and my two older brothers and my son, who is like her other son. I made the holes for lithophanes a little bigger than 90mm and for my lithophanes, I made them 90mm squares. Lithophane Settings I chose not to use Cura's built-in function and used this website instead. This website will convert an image into a lithophane STL file to use with whatever slicer you prefer. I provided two pictures with my Image Settings and Model Settings on the site. I found this site from a thing that gave me the idea of designing my own lamp. LED Setup For my LEDs, I used some LED strip lights that I bought on Amazon in a 16ft roll. I cut them into four sections of three and soldered my own wires onto each one. I used a 12v 1a power supply to provide power to my LEDs. I integrated a Feed Through ON/OFF switch so the lamp can be turned on and off. Print Settings Printer: Monoprice Maker Select/Wanhao Duplicator i3 Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: 0.2mm for box and 0.1mm for lithophanes Infill: 15% for the box and 100% for lithophanes Notes: Use supports for the v2 sides for the slot. Post-Printing I printed three Light_Box_Sides, one Light_Box_Back (with a hole to run the wire), and two Light_Box_Top-Bottoms.
