Lithophane LED Lamp
thingiverse
An Easy-To-Assemble Lithophane LED Lamp. To power my LED lamp, I chose a 25cm LED strip that costs just 0.99 cents. This strip is glued inside the case as shown in the photo. Once the LED strip is installed, slide the lithophane print onto the case and pass the USB cable through the stand before fitting it inside. Make sure to mount the case with the correct orientation, where the cable groove faces towards the back. Cover the bottom of the stand with the lid. If you need to scale up or down the parts, be sure to do so only on the X and Y dimensions for the case, as well as the X and Z dimensions for the stand. Scaling uniformly will cause everything to fall out of place. To create your own lithophane that fits this housing, start by preparing a photo or image with a width-to-height ratio of 3:4 in portrait mode. Next, go to http://3dp.rocks/lithophane and select "Flat" as the format. Click on settings and then choose "Model Settings." Here, set the maximum size to 100mm, thickness to 2mm, thinnest layer to 0.5mm, and vector per pixel to 4. Next, click on settings again and choose "Image Settings." If your photo has a bright background, select "Positive Image," but if it's dark, choose "Negative Image." Click on "Image" and drag and drop your photo into the software. Go back to "Model" and hit refresh before downloading. If you plan to resize the housing, I recommend creating your lithophane with these settings first, then scaling only the X and Y dimensions in your slicing program. I've included some Super Mario-themed lithophanes I created myself. Enjoy!
