Lithophane Lamp

Lithophane Lamp

This is a lithophane lamp I designed for my Great Aunt's 100th birthday! I printed it out of wood PLA, but any PLA will do the trick. The base has a cutout for an E17 bulb holder that I glued into place. A small 7W LED bulb sits about at the centre of the lamp. The lithophanes were created using the site http://3dp.rocks/lithophane/ First, I cropped the photos to a 10x8 ratio. The key settings in the Lithophane generator were: Max size: 119 Thickness: 3 Border: 4.5 Thinnest layer: 1 Positive Image Make sure you print the lithophanes standing up and slowly - I also used a brim for good measure. The lithophanes slot into the four sides, and the lid fits snugly on. On my lid, I cut out some lettering that shines beautifully when lit by the lamp's light. I used the STL lamp lid with name template, cutting the letters 0.6mm deep. You can also print a blank lid or add your own custom designs in a CAD program.
