Lithophane Lamp

Human: IMPORTANT UPDATE: This model is at risk of overheating in its current state. To avoid this, anyone building this model should steer clear of hot glue and opt for super glue or another non-heat-sensitive bonding agent instead. It's also a good idea to remove the lid if you plan to leave the lamp on for more than 15 minutes - as it stands, the lid restricts airflow and creates a small LED-powered oven. I'm in the process of redesigning the lid/lamp body to address this issue. While I'm at it, I'll also look into figuring out how to make the lamp spin. Update 2: I've finished designing version 2.0 and am currently printing it. If everything goes smoothly, the new design should be up by the end of the month. Version 2: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2235504 This lamp holds and displays lithophane tiles on all four sides - each side can accommodate 75x150mm worth of tiles. You're free to get creative with it, but I've only printed three easy-to-work-with sizes: 75x50, 75x75, and 75x100. Feel free to mix and match, as the tiles are easy to move around and replace. In the finished picture above, one side has the lithophane tiles turned out, while the other has them turned in. The turned-in side was a bit less detailed, but I'm confident that tweaking the printing settings could resolve this issue. I used Cura to create the lithophanes and set my parameters as follows: Height: 4mm Base: 0.6mm Width: 75mm Depth: (any depth, really)
