A custom display case is used to showcase four intricate lithophane panels. Instructions and Requirements Part 1: To embark on this project, you will only need a single 9-LED light and three AAA batteries, both of which can be easily found at Walmart. Instructions and Requirements Part 2: Converting Images to Lithophanes. I utilized the website http://3dp.rocks/lithophane/ to transform images into STL files. Before converting selected images to STL files, ensure that they are resized to a precise dimension of 632x600 pixels. It is crucial that the images meet this exact size requirement, as lithophanes printed with larger images may not fit properly. When uploading your chosen images to http://3dp.rocks/lithophane/, click on the Settings icon at the top of the page and then select Model Settings, adjusting the Maximum Size (MM) to 150. Next, navigate to Image Settings. At the upper section of the page, verify that Positive Image is selected. After confirming all settings are accurate, click on the Model icon at the top of the page to initiate the image conversion process. Instructions and Requirements 3: Printing the Lithophane Box. Due to its design, the top surface of the lithophane box requires support material during printing. I successfully printed the lithophanes flat on the print bed using a speed of 10mm/s, with a layer height of 0.1mm, hot end temperature set at 220 degrees Celsius and a bed temperature of 45 degrees Celsius. The infill percentage was set to 100% for optimal results.
