Lithopane - Make Your Own

Lithopanes, which use varying material thicknesses to create different shades in the base, can produce stunning images when backlit. By uploading an image to an online converter (http://3dp.rocks/lithophane/), you can turn your chosen photo into a lithopane. The original skull artwork was found at http://jonvilma.com/skull.html#gal_post_321_skull-8.jpg. For best results, experiment with software settings, use translucent materials, and choose finely layered printers that won't discolor in sunlight. A lithopane I made three years ago using an Objet Polyjet printer from Vero White has held up well, but a frame might help support it against warping due to high heat exposure.
