Lithopane box
thingiverse
I decided to create a gift for my wife using lithopanes, so here it is. This box can hold up to five lithos, or maybe use one on the side to write a message. Print the top frame with the four square holes facing upwards. This way it will have less support and be easier to remove. Each litho should measure 100mm x 100mm in size, and you can make them as thick as 5mm, but it's best to keep them under 4.5mm just in case. The only visible part of each litho is a 90mm x 90mm square, since there are five millimeters of space inside the grooves on all sides to keep them securely in place. I also included a file called litho frame, which you can use if your lithos are three millimeters or less thick. This way, you can use it as a spacer so your lithos don't rattle around inside the box. Just scale it up or down on the Z axis to suit your needs. Regarding the light source, I used something that I found at my local hardware store. Keep in mind that the total height of the light and socket should not exceed 90mm. The lower you go, the better, to avoid having a hot bulb close to the top litho. I made a hole and channel for your wiring as well. You could also try using a battery-operated LED light for a cleaner look. I hope you enjoy it! P.S. Please post pictures of your prints - I'd love to see what you guys create!
