List Defined Socket Tray
thingiverse
This is a custom-made list defined socket tray. My sockets are all high-quality Craftsman sockets from approximately 20 years ago. Over the years, Craftsman has utilized multiple suppliers to manufacture sockets for them, making it highly unlikely that your set will match mine. Measure your sockets accurately and adjust the dimensions in the list accordingly to ensure precise compatibility before wasting plastic on printing the wrong size tray. I included the lists I used to print out my tray's specifications, leaving them commented out in the source file as examples. However, don't rely solely on these measurements to match your sockets; it's essential to verify their accuracy. I had to split the 1/2" drive metric socket tray into two pieces because it exceeded my printer bed size even when positioned diagonally. I didn't bother creating multiple rows that align perfectly, except for inserting placeholder dimensions for sockets I don't currently own. If I acquire those sockets in the future, I may need to reprint the tray to accommodate them. Edit: I recently purchased the missing sockets and discovered that they didn't fit snugly into the holes with sizes I had estimated. Additionally, it frustrated me that sockets of the same size didn't line up consistently. To address this, I updated the socket tables to include the newly acquired parts and corrected minor size discrepancies. I also added two new features: "Align" and "Justify." Setting the variable "Alignment" to "Justify" will adjust the width of blocks in shorter rows to match the length of all rows (similar to right-justifying text). Conversely, setting "Alignment" to "Align" will set the width of an object to the maximum width of all objects in a column, ensuring vertical alignment even if parts are not identical in size.
