The liquid ring vacuum pump consists of three main parts, which will be further developed with accurate bearing dimensions. Upon completion of the model, a MakerBot will assemble it. Inside the chamber, an impeller is positioned and secured via a bolted lid. Filled halfway with water, the spinning impeller forces water outwards around the chamber. Due to the offset impeller, changing void space between blades creates suction at the bottom and compression at the top. This concept will be refined into a functional model upon receipt of the MakerBot.
