Early in the twentieth century, fire fighters had an unconventional but remarkably efficient vehicle to transport them quickly to infernos. In fact, it was a sleek, gasoline-powered, steam-driven car engineered by German industrialist Walter Chromin that first blazed this trail as early as 1908 - an era before the age of powerful diesel trucks became standard issue.
