This is a powerbank built around a very capable and cheap QC 3.0 PCB. The caveat is that it has to use 4.35v max voltage lithium-ion cells.

The upside is that PCB can fast-charge at 20W with a compatible QC 3.0 charger. I was able to pull 10W at various QC 3.0 modes, but I am not done with my tests, I'm sure it can do more.

I've built it to recycle spare laptop batteries I got from my Surface Book experiments.

Let me know if you'd like other thicknesses.

Parts list:
Powerbank PCB: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005001287843781.html
8x M3 8mm countersunk screws
a 3mm thick lipo battery with 3.8v nominal 4.35v max charge. I used a fairly large replacement battery for Samsung Galaxy Tab E. You can fit smaller batteries and stick them with double-sided tape.
4.35V cell charged voltage is critical for this PCB, a lower voltage cell will lead to overcharge and blow up.
