Lipo Guard / Battery Protector

Lipo Guard / Battery Protector

There are many lipo guards available, and most rely on solid TPU elasticity to absorb impact. However, this approach seems heavy and limited in its ability to effectively protect batteries from blunt impacts like bottoming out. The "crumple zone" is essentially the TPU itself, which may not provide sufficient protection. In contrast, a design with crumple zones built from flexible filament arms aims to absorb impact more efficiently. This could result in a lighter and more effective protective solution. I printed this lipo guard using PCTPE without support, as it is stiffer than TPU but may have poorer bridging capabilities. If you decide to make one, please let me know how it turns out. The battery shown above has a capacity of 1400mAh and is quite long. I believe this design should be able to accommodate batteries with capacities ranging from 1300 to 1500mAh. Although the back of the lipo guard is slightly open, the props or arms are likely to catch the battery before it hits the ground. When printed in PCTPE, this design weighs approximately 6-7 grams.
