Lioness-head Rhyton of translucent limestone with a hole in the muzzle for pouring out liquid offerings. Expertly crafted, this model showcases the exceptional skill of stone-carvers in accurately reproducing original forms. The nose and eyes were originally adorned with materials that have not survived. A rhyton is a container from which fluids are intended to be drunk or poured during ceremonies like libation. The English term rhyton originates from the ancient Greek word ῥυτόν (rhy̆tón or rhŭtón). This object is part of "Scan The World".
