Lionel Polar Express Straight Track
thingiverse
My son unwrapped a Lionel Polar Express train set on Christmas morning, and we quickly realized that this train needs to make its way around our entire house. I jumped into CAD mode to design a compatible piece for the set. Fortunately, the track works great. To share my creation with fellow enthusiasts, I've uploaded it to Thingiverse: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2687113 When printing this curved piece on my MakerBot Replicator 2, I encountered an issue with the male ends lifting off the non-heated print bed. To address this problem, I added small structures at the end of each piece to prevent warping. To prepare your printed model for use, you'll need to remove the support material from the female ends using a set of picks. For the male ends, carefully cut off the excess structure with wire cutters.
