The majestic Lion Statue stands proudly in the heart of Poznan's Old Zoo, its stone form crafted by the renowned artist August Gaul. Unveiled in 1910, this monumental tribute honored Robert Jaeckl, the zoo's first principal visionary. As one of Poland's oldest zoos, the Old Zoo boasts a rich history dating back to 1874. While some charming old pavilions remain, many of its wild inhabitants have been relocated to the modern New Zoo on the opposite side of town. Today, the Old Zoo has transformed into a serene public park, offering a tranquil oasis in the midst of bustling city life.
