Lion of Knidos
myminifactory
Old Knidos/Datça (Turkey) was acquired in 1902, a stunning ancient relic from the marble era. Dating back to 520 - 500 BC, this magnificent artifact showcases the artistic prowess of its creators. Its signature subject, the lion of Knidos, is distinguished by an impressive upright stance and a lean, dog-like physique with taut muscles and prominently visible ribs. In stark contrast, the serene, massive Ionian cat sculptures that preyed on their surroundings, such as the lion of Miletus displayed opposite, exhibit distinct characteristics. This remarkable object forms part of "Scan The World," a groundbreaking non-profit initiative pioneered by MyMiniFactory. Through this innovative endeavor, a vast digital archive of fully 3D printable sculptures, artworks, and landmarks from around the globe is being created for public access at no cost.
