I got a Linksys e8450 router a few weeks ago and the first thing I noticed was the brightness of all the blinking LEDs. I wanted a way to lower the intensity as I'm in the room at night and it can be a bit distracting.

So the idea here is just a mesh shield that clips over the front. The surfaces of the router are very smooth and there isn't much to clip onto, so this is more of a friction fit.

I printed this in Overture Black PETG. I have the router above a cabinet. It can easily be removed. Tolerances and other dimensions can be changed if desired. You could trim off parts of the print to test a small section before you commit to the final print.

OpenSCAD source is included. Experiment with the slot width and margin if you wish.

The diagonal slot code is my own and seems to work okay. I just did two of these and made an X for the grid. I have the router about 7 feet or so above the floor. At many angles, I can't see the LEDs at all, but they can be seen at other angles. For me, that's great. Make the holes bigger if you want more light.

Major changes to the variables may not work well. If the rounding is too large or the gaps are made too small the screen may not render well. If you need help with this, just ask.
