Regolith will be gathered by means of 8 rotating containers that are linked together via pins attached to a single drive shaft. These containers are also connected to a system of 4 linkages, which transfer motion from a separate drive when rotated, through gears to the linkage system, enabling the bucket to rotate around its drive pin. This allows the entire assembly to open and close for excavation or transportation purposes. When regolith needs to be collected, the main drive shaft rotates one way with the buckets in the open position. Conversely, when regolith is to be ejected, the drive shaft is rotated in the opposite direction. Physical Properties: Mass: 4.66 kg Material: Aluminum 7075-T6 Approximate Volume of Regolith Capacity: 47.84 liters for 8 containers (Maximum Theoretical Volume of Regolith based on design constraints is 57.3 liters) Regolith Volume to Assembly Volume Ratio: 29.68
