Linear Waveguide Based on 2D photonic band gap guidance
thingiverse
This waveguide is designed with a band gap guidance mechanism, featuring a photonic crystal pattern in its transverse plane. A trigonal lattice of cylindrical rods forms the crystal's framework. Thin plates are strategically inserted along the cylinder's axis to facilitate mounting and fine-tune the supported mode. The initial objective was to guide TM-like modes for particle acceleration; however, a redesign became necessary due to suboptimal performance, as the current structure fails to properly confine a propagating mode.
