Linear Slide - Belt Drive Version
thingiverse
Create a simple linear slide using parts from another project. This slide demonstrates leadscrew versus belt-driven stages (view http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:46681 for the leadscrew version). Most of the required components are available on thingiverse.com/thing:41897; build them as instructed and modify accordingly to the provided image. Additional items needed include 20 tooth t2.5x6 timing pulleys, a suitable length timing belt, a small worm drive gear motor (e.g., from http://www.rapidonline.com/Electrical-Power/Worm-drive-gearbox-with-motor-64483), and a timing pulley mounting bracket made of 2x6mm thick MDF pieces with a 4mm hole through, supporting a 3.5mm steel rod that passes through the idler timing pulley. Secure the components using belt tension. For clarity, cut away the slide's top for belt insertion and create a new hole for the belt's return end. If more photos are needed, feel free to ask; experiment and enjoy! Note: an URL for the motor source was added in an update.
