Linear bearing housing for 8 mm shaft
thingiverse
I'm upgrading the z-axis linear bearing housing on my Tronxy X5SA 3D printer, replacing the original plastic parts with metal ones to prevent them from shifting during prints and when removing parts. The original plastic components are quite flexible, causing bearings to fit loosely and resulting in a table that can change its horizontal alignment from print to print. This issue is exacerbated by forceful part removals. To address this problem, I opted for all-metal linear bearing housings. After conducting research, I was unable to find one designed specifically for an 8mm shaft, so I decided to 3D print my own using ABS-PA material. By doing so, I aimed to make the bearings as rigid as possible and minimize their movement against the table. The result is a smooth printing experience with no noticeable table alignment issues. This upgrade marks the beginning of a series of comprehensive modifications to my Tronxy X5SA 3D printer.
