I need to record directly from the line outputs of my Yamaha Clavinova without causing clipping on the input circuitry of my Zoom recorder. Normal volume settings are too loud and that won't work. I've found a solution. The potentiometer sets the level anywhere from 0 to 100% of the input signal. First, connect the ground lead from both jacks to the leftmost tab at the bottom. Then, route the ring and tip wires from the input jack to the rightmost tabs, while directing the ring and tip wires from the output jack to the middle tabs. Next, wire both rings to either the top or bottom middle/right tab, and connect both tips to the other one. Be aware that switching them will swap the left and right channels. Make sure you place the input jack on the correct side of the box. The arrows clearly show which way is up. If you put the output jack in the lowest position, it essentially shorts out and drives the instrument into a dead short, so avoid that situation at all costs. The design files for this custom box include a knob that's available elsewhere on this site.
