Line Growth Coasters
prusaprinters

Generative algorithms are fascinating, and differential line growth is no different.

These coasters are procedurally generated using Houdini. If you want to know a bit more about this you can find my inspiration here, and you can see the algorithm in action in an animated GIF here.

They are quite mesmerizing to watch as they print, since the top is a single connected line.

There are a few versions included:

You'll find circular/hex versions of all the variations. This is the shape of the coaster (circle/hexagon)

There are two different thicknesses: regular and thick. Regular is 2.6mm high and thick is around 4mm, a bit too thick for a coaster in my opinion but may be useful for some.

Singleline versions are 1.8mm thick and the line ornament is a single layer thick. They're the copper/marble ones in my pictures, designed for extra contrast between colors.

They're designed to print at 0.45mm extrusion width, 0.2mm layer height, and it's quite important to disable Fill Gaps on the slicer settings. You can always use my pre-sliced .3mf files that already have a color change setup and all the necessary settings.
