This is the second day of my President's day freedom print week, I will post a new piece of art every day that advocates for People's rights and freedoms across the Globe. I will be posting a lot about the events that have unfolded in Hong Kong and Southeast Asia in the last year. I wish to show people the atrocities of China and I STRONGLY advocate for Hong Kong, Taiwan, Tibet, Xinyang, Myanmar, and everywhere people have to fear for their lives whenever they speak out against the government. In one of the last places of the world where slavery was tolerated, where the nation's mission was 'Liberty and Justice for ALL.' This man rose from nothing to bringing the United states' motto into its actual federal law. It wasn't easy though; people relied on exploiting men in servitude to keep the economy strong, and many feared that if they got free the slaves would bring down the already low wages of the working class. So much so that Half of the United States broke off to preserve the 'right to a slave'. So much so that New York would shoot recruiters so they didn't have to fight for a cause they didn't love. But he stood strong, announcing to a world that wanted to see how the 'Experiment of democracy would hold out as old wounds in their ideals gushed out blood, that slavery would be no more. I feel like this represents Hong kong in a way, as the Chinese government exploits their people in a manner just as bad, if not worse than the south did. Every person, regardless of race, creed, gender, or age, deserves the inalienable right to express their opinion, fight for their rights, have a family and have just trials. If a government cannot or will not provide you with those fundamentals then they shouldn't be your government. I detest what you write, but I would give my life to make it possible for you to continue to write. -Voltaire
