Limit Switch (Contact Switch) Case
thingiverse
One of the biggest obstacles of utilizing limit switches when building an FRC robot is avoiding destruction. With only 3mm of travel, it can be extremely tough to halt a motor in time to prevent over-driving your mechanism and shattering the limit switch. Over the years, we adopted a mindset of not designing things that necessitate limit switches because they always seem to break frequently in finals or other critical moments in a competition. We likely utilize more pneumatics than other teams as a result. This protective housing not only safeguards the limit switch from being broken, but also enables much greater travel in either direction. The design is engineered to work with a 15mm spring, but could also function with a rubber band. The switch is a MSW-0 microswitch featuring a lever that has an 8mm overhang to the center of the bearing. Four small screws are required to secure the cover. There are two tiny holes through the body for securing the switch to the robot using small zip ties. Two 0.25-inch bolt mounting holes provide more stable mounting options. https://youtu.be/DTNaoCqWE1k
