A limit switch is an electromechanical device used to protect machinery and equipment by controlling the range of motion in motors and other machines, preventing overtravel or undertravel. It consists of a switch mechanism, usually actuated by a lever or plunger, which triggers when a predetermined position is reached. This signal can then be used to stop the movement of the machine or initiate another function.
