Limestone false-door & architrave of Ptahshepses
sketchfab
The intricately carved architrave boasts five lines of text, carefully inscribed in standard invocation-formulae to honor Osiris and Anubis. The false door itself is divided into two sections, each side featuring a pair of lines that proudly display the titles of Ptahshepses. Surrounding these titles are panelled walls that carry a biographical inscription, detailing Ptahshepses' remarkable life story. He recounts his birth during the reign of Mycerinus, his marriage to Khamaat, a princess likely belonging to Shepseskaf's family, and his distinguished career under four successive kings, possibly including Nyuserre from the Fifth Dynasty. Each text on the false door is carved in high-quality sunk relief, showcasing exceptional craftsmanship. On either side of the door, long panels depict offerings of food, expertly rendered in fine low relief. The architrave remains intact and in excellent condition.
