This stunning limestone bust of Queen Ahmes-Merytamun, wife of Amenhotep I, was crafted circa 1550 BC, during the early 18th Dynasty's golden era, showcasing her majestic beauty adorned with the iconic Hathor Wig, a quintessential symbol of New Kingdom elegance. Giovanni Belzoni unearthed this priceless relic in 1817 while excavating at Karnak, specifically within the Eighth Pylon, a monumental gateway situated on the southern axis of the temple. He successfully retrieved the upper portion but was forced to leave behind the lower segment, which remains embedded in the site to this day.
