Lilypad: A Game by Jonathan A. Leistiko A variant of checkers designed for two skilled opponents. Every May Day, mythical creatures from around the world converge on a secluded location for the Unseen Revel - a joyous celebration of music, camaraderie, and competitive play that lasts an entire week. Among the most popular attractions at this festive gathering is a straightforward game known as 'Lilypad': Two agile fairies engage in a thrilling contest to be the first to cross a pond inhabited by frogs and turtles without getting wet. The catch: one fairy can only step on turtles, while the other can only step on frogs, and they start from opposite sides of the pond. (By the way... If you find it too fanciful to imagine tiny sprites dancing on turtles and frogs, simply picture yourself as a fearless gladiator battling on hover drones over a sea of fiery magma - that should get your adrenaline pumping!) In Lilypad, players strive to move their pawns across the board without being captured. The first player to successfully maneuver their pawn across the board wins. If both opponents' pawns are captured, the game ends in a draw.
