Lil-b is a compact 100mm x 100mm servo-driven robot perfect for beginners to build and learn from. This bot is designed with simplicity in mind, requiring just a few easy-to-assemble parts. It consists of two platforms (top and base), two wheels, four servo motor mounts, four standoffs, and two caster slides. Assembling the Lil-b requires minimal materials: * 10 M3 screws * Super glue for motor mounts * Two 40mm x 4mm o-rings for the wheels * Two Feetech FS90R or Adafruit 9g continuous rotation servos * Two servo horns (included with the servos) * An Arduino board with sensor shield or equivalent * A 7.4v lipo battery or other 5v or greater battery (a 9v battery is also suitable) * One HC-SR04 ultrasonic sensor * Jumper wires (Dupont) To assemble Lil-b: 1. Print all the necessary parts: one base, one top, two wheels, four standoffs, two slide-casters, one faceplate, and four motor mounts. 2. Glue the motor mounts as shown in pictures five and six. 3. Attach the servo horns to the wheel hubs using super glue. 4. Insert the faceplate into the slot on the top platform (you may need to file or sand the edges for a snug fit). 5. Mount the slide casters to the bottom of the base platform, opposite the motor mounts. 6. Allow all glue to dry completely. 7. Attach the servos to the base platform using the mounting posts and screws provided with the servo. 8. Secure the standoffs to the base platform using four M3 screws. 9. Mount the top platform to the base using the same four M3 screws. 10. Place the o-rings onto the wheels inside their respective grooves. 11. Attach the wheels to the servos, securing them with the provided screw. 12. Add the Arduino board and HC-SR04 sensor to the faceplate. 13. Connect the servos and HC-SR04 to the Arduino. 14. Program the Lil-b and enjoy! Note: If you plan to use the bot for line following, you can omit the front slide-caster and utilize up to three IR sensors on the base platform. Update: Taller standoffs have been added to accommodate a 2x4 AA battery holder. To add test code, a simple obstacle avoider is included.
