Based on Murat Kendir's brilliant idea to build a mask with the filter material clamped between two frames, I created my own version of the mask. I adjusted the frame size for my face and added supports for the paper to the inner frame. Now you simply place the filter material or paper over the inner frame and press the outer frame down until both frames are securely connected. The excess filter material is trimmed away, and the mask is ready. I printed the frames with PLA and PETG, and both materials work flawlessly. The mask has several advantages: 1) The mask is incredibly light, weighing only 11 grams. 2) The mask can be printed relatively quickly. 3) The mask features a large filter surface, making breathing easier. 4) Due to the cage-like design of the inner frame, the mask remains stable when inhaled. The filter material does not collapse. 5) There is ample space in front of the mouth for clear speech. I am aware that this mask is only a temporary solution and cannot be compared to medical masks. Update 30.04.2020: I added the file "Lightweight mask - inner and outer frame together." Both frames can now be completed with a single print. I also added the file "Inner frame for quick size adjustment." This is the shape of the inner frame. To test personal size adjustments quickly, such as length and width, use this file. The print takes only a few minutes, and you'll know if the mask will fit. Update 05.05.2020: I added the file "Lightweight mask - Inner frame V2 - with hooks." If the rubber bands are pulling the outer frame too tightly, it can cause both frames to separate from each other. I have now attached small hooks to the inner frame, which snap into place when the outer frame is pressed down. This ensures that both frames remain securely connected.
