Lightweight 6in Diameter Traction Wheel
thingiverse
This 6in Traction Wheel is designed specifically for use in FIRST Robotics Competitions on robot drive systems. It's meant to be used in conjunction with a length of 1in wide traction tread material, just like standard traction wheels from VexPro or Andymark, but at a significantly reduced weight. These wheels utilize the standard 1.875 in mounting hole pattern found on most FRC wheels. The axle hole can accommodate up to two standard 1.125" flanged bearings that mount flush to the wheel's surface, or VexPro "VersaHubs." Tread can be attached using 8-32 screws and nuts through the included mounting holes, making it easy to change tread without removing the wheel from the robot. Note that this design is similar to my Ultralightweight 6in wheel, but with some key differences. This version should be easier to print and more durable, albeit at the cost of a slightly longer print time and higher weight. DO NOT USE POP-RIVETS TO ATTACH TREAD TO THESE WHEELS! These wheels have been thoroughly tested and proven to be durable for use at up to three district events (during the 2018 season) before any replacement is necessary. Depending on the application, you may notice some degradation of the edge of the wheel rim where the tread sits over time, which is normal and purely aesthetic. Wheels should be replaced if any damage is found in areas that directly support the tread or the mounting holes. Total weight using eSUN PLA+ material: approximately 0.496lbs per wheel (wheel only, no tread or hardware included).
