Lightshow for your Turntable

If music isn't enough, add a light show! I got this idea while decorating my turntable. Check out this video: http://youtu.be/zpftUBy3FbQ. It features strobo effects, beat-synced flashing lights, and even colored sequences for your turntable. To see how it works, just watch the video. Everything is written in OpenSCAD and well-documented - over 1000 lines of code! Just download the code and modify it (be warned: rendering can take a long time). All parts print without support material on an area as small as 10x10cm. You have several choices for building your own light effect wheel. GroundplaneWithAxis is necessary to print, which might sound obvious but you can never be too sure! Chaserone creates flashing lights with one gap in the wheel. If that's not what you're after, try Chaserstrobo with three gaps for a strobo effect or Chasercolored without holes and thin walls for colored effects - print it in white and insert a paper stripe as shown in the video. You'll also need Cap1 to close your wheel, which has extra holes for connectors. Or you can go with Cap2, which doesn't have holes but a chamfer on one side of the hole in the middle - great if Cap1 leaves you feeling frustrated! Connectros might not be necessary unless your cap keeps falling off. If you want some extra stability or need to adjust the height of your wheel, try using Crossedwheels - they come in different heights from 2 to 10 mm. For an advanced project like planetary wheels with ghosts, use Planetary_assembled and Planetary_printable for those spooktacular effects! Here's how you can get started: 1) Build your own Strobo effect: print GroundplaneWithAxis, Chaserstrobo, Cap1, and Crosses. Attach the cap to Chaserstrobo so that its teeth stick out underneath, then follow the steps in the video - don't forget those crossed-wheels for stability! 2) Make a Coloreffect: print GroundplaneWithAxis (you might have done this already), Chasercolored, Cap1, and Crosses. Take a piece of paper, cut a stripe to about 250x25mm, draw your effect using highlighters or paint, and pop that in the wheel. 3) Create a wheel with rotating ghosts: print GroundplaneWithAxis (maybe you need this again), Chaser*, Cap2, Crosses, and Planetary_printable - remember to glue the planetary wheel on top of Chaser!
