LIGHTSABER - LED - Fully Functional
thingiverse
This is a 3D printed Light Saber I designed as a personal project to keep myself occupied and submit it in the #lightitup challenge. Here's a demo video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mhZpyn2MeaM&feature=youtu.be Let me start by saying this is an incredibly easy print/make... The handle only requires two main prints, and you have the option of printing six individual sliding cylinders or one with all of them already embedded. Every print can be made on a single extruder, no supports are required, and the tallest print stands at 155mm high on the Z axis. So as long as your printer can print up to 155 in the Z, you can make this without any issues. The only thing you'll need to buy is an LED light and remote for $10... http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00FS7N0J8?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00 I used Bendlay filament for the cylinders mainly because it lets a lot of light pass through (91%) and is also much stronger than PLA. It's pretty expensive, but totally worth it for this project... If you desire, you can also print the cylinders in natural PLA/ABS or any translucent filament you want to use. However, you won't get the same glow you get with Bendlay...
