Lightsaber Candle Holder

Lightsaber Candle Holder

I thought I spotted birthday candles with lightsaber online, but my guess was incorrect, so I decided to 3D print one! It turned out well for my wife's Star Wars themed birthday party. I'm amazed by how much Disney licenses The Force Awakens party stuff already. This design is intended to fit standard birthday candles in the US. Most of my candles fit well after shaving off a tiny piece of wax. A couple fit a bit loose, but that could be due to PLA being slightly looser. The candle holder is a little taller than most, but it worked great and everyone loved them! Please keep in mind that I have no idea if your printing material is food-safe! I highly recommend thinking about discarding the part of the cake where the candle holder is or considering not licking the candle holders at all. You're the one using these materials, after all. Print one first to ensure your candle(s) fit before printing a bunch. Check out my Lego Artoo! TIP: Make sure to test print one holder before making a dozen, so you know they'll fit right. **Post-Printing:** Cleaning up and optional painting After printing without supports, the button drooped a bit due to hanging off the edge. I just filed it off easily. You can paint them if desired (WARNING: use food-safe paint or materials). I was happy with gray and skipped painting. Solid Star Wars color candles would be awesome too. If you find ones that are a bit longer, it'd help with proportions. Oh, and watch out for plastic filament - it can catch fire near the flame! **Birthday Candles in Lightsaber Holders:** Example Paint Scheme (from 70% Lightsaber remixed source) How I Designed This FWIW, I remixed this from my 70% lightsaber - https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:724456 - Check that out for painting ideas. Mostly I just shrunk the model and added a point under the tip. The hollow for the candle requires fatter bits below the emitter to maintain its recognizability as a lightsaber.
