Lightning H Field Loop Antenna Fittings

Lightning H Field Loop Antenna Fittings

This design needs an update - more effective and smaller loop antennas are detailed on the website below or check out my new interpretation at http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1792866 Attached STL's are junction fittings used in building a H Field loop antenna as part of a lightning detection system. The 2 junction fittings secure inside the semicircular Copper tube that holds the Copper Wire loops. Other plastic parts should be easily obtainable from hardware stores. I created the STLs using the Design schematics from http://users.skynet.be/DanielV37/Project_LR/Antenna/Antenna.htm#Hardware . The attached jpgs are from that site. Further information can be obtained from http://en.blitzortung.org/live_lightning_maps.php Print Settings: Printer Brand: RepRap Printer: Mendel 3 Rafts: No Supports: Yes Resolution: 0.2mm first layer, then 0.3mm using slic3r Infill: hexagonal @20% Notes: This was my first serious large object in ABS. I've experienced cracking in the higher layers due to cooling during the build. It seems like the solution is to build a shroud around the printer so that the heater bed also warms the whole object. Design Origin: The design originated from the url above. The STL was created using Turbocad 21.0
