Lightning Detector with Coherer
thingiverse
This is an easy-to-use lightning detector that utilizes a coherer. When a radio frequency signal arrives and its magnitude is strong enough to activate the coherer into conduction, an electric current flows through a transistor that amplifies the current for the counter relay. When the relay moves forward, it hits the hammer tap on the coherer's tube with force. This "knock" immediately reverses the metal powder back to their low-conductance state. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lEYOqLs_vWU
