Lighting Element
thingiverse
This 3D-printed bracket fits a low-cost light bulb socket (check part list). Compatible with other "Elements" tagged objects, it's made for a truncated-icosahedral lamp when affordable low-wattage CFLs are found. Created by modifying the circular elements OpenSCAD script from thingiverse.com/thing:5859, follow these steps: print both parts; trim excess plastic from hinges; test fit with bulb socket (flush with inner surface); glue socket into larger bracket and attach hexagonal plate; let dry before assembling creatively. Use 12-14 gauge wire but 16-gauge works too. Handle carefully with 110V AC power. Be cautious with high-wattage bulbs due to ABS/PLA melting points. Note that hinge clearance might require adjustments in printing settings or hinge pins removal for easier assembly.
