This is a 140mm diameter spherical lithophane model of the earth. It has accurate depictions of the continents, oceans and seas, as well as a few fun accent images such as a compass rose and some pirate ships in the oceans. The base is designed to accept the PCB from this LED light, and is simply superglued into place. The lithophane sphere is glued onto the base, and the battery compartment has a door that can be used to access the batteries. The door is held closed with a #6 1/2" wood screw.
